BBC Wales, UKTV and London Live are among the UK broadcasters to have picked up content from the distribution arm of Channel 4.

BBC Wales has acquired British feature film Set Fire to the Stars, which was produced by Mad as Birds and has already won a Welsh Bafta. It will get its UK premiere on Wednesday March 1, St David’s Day, on BBC Wales.

Starring Elijah Wood and Celyn Jones, the semi-biographical show follows aspiring New York poet John M Brinnin as he embarks on a week-long retreat to save his hero, acclaimed Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.

Meanwhile, UKTV has picked up comedy and factual entertainment series including the first three seasons of Black Books (Assembly Film and Television), the two seasons of Simon Pegg-fronted Spaced (Longon Weekend Television) and Jamie’s Superfood (Fresh One).

London Live has taken comedy Crashing (Big Talk Productions) plus a host of Film Four titles including Peter’s Friends and cult classic Withnail & I.

Anne-Marie Pardoe, UK secondary sales manager, negotiated the deals for C4.
