TVE and Tele5 tie for audience share

For the first time in Spain’s TV history, two channels tied for top spot for the month’s best audience share, marking pubcaster TVE’s slide in popularity and commercial net Telecinco’s rise.

Both stations closed last month neck and neck with 22.8% audience share a piece. For TVE1 it was the worst result for May on record, while for Telecinco it was the best figure for almost three years.

TVE1 peaked in May thanks to the Royal Wedding and Telecinco enjoys highs due to hit dramas Los Serrano and Hospital Central.

The figures, collated by Corporación Multimedia, show that the gap between the channels is closing. Meanwhile, Antena3 stills hold third spot with a 20% share, followed by La Forta with 17%.

Antena3 shows Aquí No Hay Quien Viva (Nobody Left Alive) and Mis Adorables Vecinos (My Adorable Neighbours) figure in the top 10 most watched shows for May.
