TV3 takes Seven’s Million Dollar quiz

Australia’s Seven Network is continuing to expand into international markets by selling one of its quizshows to New Zealand broadcaster TV3.

Million Dollar Minute has been created, developed and produced by Seven and is hosted by Simon Reeve. Contestants must answer general knowledge questions to be in with the chance of winning A$1m (US$850,000).

Brad Lyons, Seven’s network director of production, said: “We are driving our future with programmes and content we create and leverage. We are focused on driving our presence in the sale and distribution of our programming and creating new business and revenue streams for our content.”

Endemol Worldwide Distribution has picked up international distribution rights for Million Dollar Minute for both the format and finished programme.

Seven recently created two international joint-venture production companies with London-based 7Wonder and US-targeting 7Beyond.

Both have been launched to expand the broadcaster’s creation and production of programming, which has previously included teen soap Home & Away, competition series My Kitchen Rules and factual show Border Security.
