TV2 set to master Avalon gameshow

Danish broadcaster TV2 has ordered a local version of UK comedy gameshow Taskmaster, after acquiring the format rights from prodco and distributor Avalon.

The UK version of Taskmaster features comedians Greg Davies and Alex Horne

The 8×60’ series will be produced by Endemol Shine-owned Metronome Productions in Denmark and is due to air in 2018.

Taskmaster was created by British comedian Alex Horne and is produced and distributed by Avalon. The show sees comedians take on physical challenges set by a ‘taskmaster.’

Swedish pubcaster SVT has announced a second season of its version of the format, Bäst i Test! (Best in Test!), which will also air next year.

The format has also been remade for Comedy Central in the US and VTM in Belgium and is in development in six additional territories. The finished programme has been sold to New Zealand’s TVNZ and UKTV in Australia.

“Taskmaster has already proved to be a global success,” said Isobel Hughes, director of distribution at Avalon. “The show’s combination of competition, ingenuity, comedy and creative challenges is compelling and entertaining viewing in any country, and is sure to be equally popular with audiences in Denmark.”

Avalon will be taking the format to the upcoming Asia TV Forum, alongside finished programmes and formats such as gameshow The Button, factual entertainment series The Three Day Nanny and hit comedy Catastrophe.
