Peppa Pig travels to TV Tokyo

eOne’s popular children’s brand Peppa Pig

Japanese broadcaster TV Tokyo has picked up preschool animation hit Peppa Pig from the show’s owner and distributor, Entertainment One (eOne).

The programme, which has been sold to territories all over the world, will air on the Japanese free-to-air broadcaster from October 10.

Peppa Pig has been a continued success for transatlantic producer and distributor eOne since it took a 70% stake in the brand’s co-owner Astley Baker Davies in 2015 for £140m (US$188.8m). At the time, eOne announced it aimed for the show to bring in US$2bn by 2020.

Last year, eOne’s annual financial results showed its performance had been boosted by the show, offsetting difficulties in its film division. The company’s family division saw revenues up 10% to £67m, with EBITDA up 82% to £43m.
