TV One provides Evidence of Innocence

US cablenet TV One is producing a documentary series about people convicted of crimes they didn’t commit.

Evidence of Innocence, which will be hosted by attorney Benjamin Crump, is being produced by 3815 Media in partnership with Jupiter Entertainment.

It was created by 3815 Media CEO Rushion McDonald, currently the executive producer of The Steve Harvey Show in the US.

McDonald said he was inspired to create the show in response to national headlines regarding racial injustice in the US justice system.

Instead of focusing on the negative aspects, the show will tell the story of how the wrongly accused maintained their faith while waiting on the opportunity to prove their innocence, TV One said.

“These stories of redemption after going through horrific circumstances are certain to encourage viewers to face their own personal challenges with renewed resolve,” said Tia Smith, TV One’s senior director of original programming and production.

McDonald added: “As Attorney Crump says, all you have to do is sit in the back of a courtroom and you’ll see that justice is not equal in this country.

“However, this show is different from any other true crime show. Even though these persons received the blunt end of a bad deal, their stories are inspiring.”
