TV Guide Network in the US has picked up a Canadian celebrity magazine show, as parent Lionsgate reportedly considers a rebrand ahead of offloading the channel’s web business.
TV Guide will air Pyramid Productions’ half-hour show Celebrity Style Story back-to-back in hour-long blocks, recounting the career arcs and fashion choices of top celebrities.
The series’ mostly female subjects include Beyoncé, Kim Cattrall, Sarah Jessica Parker and Julia Roberts. It debuted earlier this year on Canada’s E! network.
The deal follows a separate one for three series – Burger Wars, Taco Wars and Pizza Wars – which Pyramid is making for CMT (Canada).
It comes as Deadline reported that Lionsgate is in advanced negotiations to sell TVGuide.com, with a possible price tag of US$20-25m.
The news comes as Yahoo! emerged as one of the companies interested in bidding for the TV listings and entertainment news site, according to All Things Digital.
