Tarek Mounir now oversees Turner Broadcasting’s operations in the Middle East, North Africa, Greece and Cyprus, having previously held the role of commercial director.

He has been with Turner Broadcasting since 2010 and is credited with helping to build up its presence in the Middle East, where it runs channels such as Cartoon Network Arabic and CNN International.

Reporting to Rani R Raad, Turner Broadcasting’s MD for the region, Mounir manages Turner’s offices in Dubai as well as Cartoon Network Animation Studios and Animation Academy in Abu Dhabi.

Cartoon Network Arabic is currently producing a second season of the Emirati cartoon Mansour, which follows a 12-year-old boy who is mad about sports and science.

Turner Broadcasting, meanwhile, has almost completed the relaunch of its Boomerang network, with the new-look channel due to arrive in the Middle East and North Africa on February 14.
