Turner, Hasbro ride with Little Pony

Turner Broadcasting has agreed a deal with Hasbro Studios, the LA-based production and distribution division of the toy giant, to air four kids shows on its channels.

The agreement, which covers the UK, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and the Middle East, will start in summer 2011.

Under the deal, Turner Broadcasting in EMEA will carry episodes of Transformers Prime, The Adventures of Chuck and Friends, Pound Puppies and My Little Pony on its Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Cartoonito kids’ services.

They will also appear on Turner’s Cartoon Network Arabic in the Middle East and Boing in Spain.

Michael Carrington, chief content officer at Turner Broadcasting, said: “These shows are fantastic legacy brands which have been brought to life for new audiences and they are a welcome addition to our channel line-up.”

Hasbro Studios president Stephen Davis added: “Turner’s strong suite of channels will be an ideal home for our new animated series in Europe – all re-invented, re-imagined and re-ignited from our stable of well-known brands.”
