Turner and Warner launch Indian channel

Turner International and sister company Warner Bros Entertainment have unveiled plans for a new Warner-branded English-language channel in India.

WB, as the pay channel is being dubbed, will offer a mix of TV series and films licensed from Warner Bros International Television Distribution and run with the tagline ‘Now That’s Hollywood.’

The new channel expands Turner’s footprint in the growing Indian television market, where it already operates HBO and Real, the company’s first Hindi general entertainment offering, launched earlier this week.

Targeted at 15-44s, WB will broadcast 24 hours a day and will be distributed by through Turner’s joint venture with Indian broadcast group Zee and will be available on cable and satellite.

“We are pleased to be providing our programming and the iconic Warner brand to our sister company Turner to launch the WB branded service and to bring the best of Hollywood entertainment to viewers in India,” said Warner Bros International Television president Jeffrey Schlesinger.

WB will be supported online via itsonWB.com, which will give viewers access to trailers, show information and news.
