True Gravity preps sci-fi epic

Canuck prodco True Gravity Productions has come on board a sci-fi drama series from a filmmaker whose credits include the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.

Toronto-based True Gravity will coproduce and distribute Election Day, which comes from filmmaker Robert Watts.

Set in the year 2055 with the world heading towards political and economic collapse, it follows the first election to select a world president whose mission is to thwart a global revolution from humans with never-before-seen capabilities.

It marks from the first television project from Watts, who has previously worked as a producer with George Lucas and Steven Spielberg on movies such as The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Also on board the series are Italian songwriter Mauro Repetto, French writer Typhanie Soulat and visual effects editor Tim Eaton, whose credits include Titanic and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
