Troy casts a spell over Discovery

Discovery Networks International (DNI) will broadcast magic series Troy on its channels across Europe in 2014, after acquiring the show from Endemol.

Troy (6×60′), coproduced by Zig Zag Productions and GroupM Entertainment, follows magician Troy Von Scheibner as he performs a mixture of studio close-up magic and street tricks in front of members of the public.

Discovery Networks Western Europe will broadcast the show in 15 countries, excluding the UK, starting next spring before showing across other DNI territories later in the year.

Discovery has picked up both free-to-air rights and the series’ first pay TV rights and will broadcast the show on channels including DMAX in Italy and Germany, and Discovery Channel in France and Benelux.

Adam Jacobs, director of factual programming at Discovery Networks Western Europe, said: “Magic is a very popular genre amongst our viewers and we can’t wait to bring a new face to the market.”
