TriForce kicks off writers’ incubator

TriForce Productions, the UK prodco focused on promoting equal opportunities in the TV business, has chosen six writers to receive development funding for their new projects.

The six writers to receive TCN support

The writers will be given one-to-one mentoring, training and seminars as part of a paid 12-month programme, as well as direct introductions to industry decision makers.

The TriForce Creative Network (TCN) Writers Incubator was opened in February alongside UK government organisation Creative Skillset and the latter’s high-end TV drama skills levy, set up to support the next generation of talent.

TCN has already secured “commissioners’ engagement” at broadcasters include the BBC, Channel 4 and Sky.

The six finalists and their main projects are: Janice Hallett (Blackout), Shimon Greenidge-Forsyth (The Ortlan Birds), Sharma Walfall (Out of Bounds), Mariama Ives-Moiba (A Family Like Mine), Sam Benjamin (Liverpool ’81) and Tsonko Bumbalov (Lemongrass & Morphine).

Fraser Ayres, CEO of TriForce Productions, said: “We received almost 1,000 submissions for this project, so the finalists really had to stand out to be selected. These are names to watch out for over the coming months.”

The finalists were selected from a shortlist of 20 writers, all of whom were invited to meet with Ayres and Minnie Ayres, chief operating officer of TCN, as well as Jay Davidson, assistant commissioner at the BBC.
