Tricon’s Smallfoot steps into CBBC site

UK children’s network CBBC has picked up animated series Smallfoot from Canadian prodcos Tricon and Shark Teeth Films for its online platform My Toons.

The CGI and live-action series is currently in development but has been licensed to the My Toons webspace, which showcases five new cartoons each week.

Created by Adrian Carter and Tom Mudd at Shark Teeth Films, Smallfoot is an action-comedy based on the adventures of two miniature friends in the big city.

UK pubcaster the BBC launched My Toons in May as a destination for shortform animation aimed at six- to 12-year-olds. Previous animations showcased on the player include RDF’s cartoon Simon’s Cat and Leon from Studio Hari.

“The My Toons site is a great place to try out new shows, new talent and new formats that hopefully will benefit the audience, the producer and the broadcaster,” said Jon Rutherford, Tricon’s VP international sales and acquisitions.
