Tricon strikes chord with comedy

Canadian distributor Tricon Films and Television will launch a comedy show from US cable channel IFC about a female folk music double act at Mipcom.

Garfunkel & Oates (8×30′), starring Riki Lindhome (New Girl) and Kate Micucci (The Big Bang Theory), looks at how the duo’s musical careers affect their private lives.

The series began airing on IFC this August and is directed by Fred Savage (Modern Family, 2 Broke Girls), with Dennis McNicholas (Saturday Night Live) as showrunner.

Tricon is the worldwide distributor of IFC’s slate of original scripted comedies, which also include The Spoils of Babylon (6×30′), Maron (23×30′), The Birthday Boys (20×30′) and Comedy Bang! Bang! (50×30′).
