Trapped star appointed Minister

The star of Icelandic crime drama Trapped will play a prime minister suffering from mental health problems in a new political thriller for national broadcaster RÚV.

Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, who has also appeared in True Detective and The Missing, will lead the cast of The Minister, which was pitched to delegates here at Série Series in Fontainebleau, France.

The plot sees the prime minister of Iceland struggle with bipolar disorder, while his team and allies are forced to endanger the stability of both the government and their private lives, some to hide the illness and others to abuse it.

Produced by Sagafilm, the 8×45’ series comes from writers Björg Magnúsdóttir, Birkir Blær Ingólfsson and Jónas Margeir Ingólfsson. Shooting is set to begin next spring and the show is scheduled to debut in 2019/20.
