Icelandic national broadcaster RUV has renewed crime series Trapped for a second season.

The series, filmed in Iceland by RVK Studios and distributed by US-based Dynamic Television, is slated to return in fall 2018.

Based on an original idea by Baltasar Kormakur, Trapped tells the story of a troubled cop investigating a murder when his small Icelandic town is hit by a powerful blizzard, trapping the villagers and most likely the killer in the town.

Season two of the series will follow the same lead characters as they examine an even more complex and challenging murder case.

Trapped is written by Sigurjón Kjartansson and Clive Bradley and the producers are Baltasar Kormakur and Magnus Vidar Sigurdsson. It is executive produced by Dynamic Television’s Dan March and Klaus Zimmermann.

The show’s first season has been sold to BBC, ZDF, France Televisions, SVT, NRK and DR, among others.
