Toonami grows reach in Thailand

Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific will significantly increase the distribution of its action and animé network Toonami in Thailand in 2015.

Toonami will be available in 11 million households in Thailand from January 14, 2015, according to Turner, following a deal with local operator Major Kantana Broadcasting.

Previously, Toonami was available to a much smaller audience in Thailand via operator Sansuk Network.

The channel is based on a programming block on Cartoon Network in the US and airs action-adventure titles such as Ben 10, Teen Titans, Transformers Prime and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

It rolled-out in countries in Asia including Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong and Taiwan in 2012.

The news comes as Turner prepares to relaunch another of its brands, Boomerang, in Asia, as part of a global rebrand for the cartoon channel.

The network will relaunch across several key markets in South East Asia from the beginning of 2015, where it will replace preschool channel Cartoonito.
