Fledgling children’s web portal Toon Goggles has nearly doubled its content library through a deal with German distributor Your Family Entertainment (YFE).
The 240-hour deal comprises 24 separate properties, 21 full series and two feature films for kids in the US and Canada between the ages of three and 13. The series include toons Magical Tooth Fairies, Shadow of the Elves, Bob’s Beach and Da Boom Crew.
“The deal with YFE brings us to a new milestone of over 500 hours of content, which we anticipate doubling again in the near future as the huge momentum of interest in our specialised service continues to build among programmers around the world,” said Toon Googles’ executive VP of new media Stephen Hodge.
Toon Goggles – which launched last year and runs on the web, mobiles and tablets – allows children to design their own viewing schedules through personal Facetoon pages. The COPPA-certified site employs a strictly enforced screening process to ensure all its content is age appropriate and safe.
Venture capital firm ADC Licensing launched the site as an alternative to the standard network commissioning process. It offers analytic data to animators and producers on viewing figures and initial feedback to help them better negotiate rights when presenting their shows to potential buyers. ADC is no longer affiliated with the company.
