TNT takes One Giant Leap

US cablenet TNT has ordered a four-hour miniseries about the life of NASA astronaut Neil Armstrong, who was the first man to walk on the moon.

One Giant Leap is based on Leon Wagener’s book of the same name and will be adapted by Al Reinert, who co-wrote feature film Apollo 13.

EOne Television is producing the series, with the firm’s John Morayniss and Michael Rosenberg exec producing alongside Reinert and Kevin Cleary of Pooka Entertainment. Pooka’s Patti Vasquez and Josh Morris of Content House will co-exec produce, and Guy Oseary is producer.

Armstrong became the first man to land on the moon’s surface on July 21, 1969, as part of the Apollo 11 mission, followed by fellow American Buzz Aldrin.

Last week, TNT ordered a 10-episode second season of crime drama Murder in the First, exec produced by Steven Bochco (NYPD Blue) and starring Kathleen Robertson (Boss).
