The channel’s eight-episode show will mark Turner’s first large-scale original Brazilian production. The drama will be known, and set, in Rua Augusta, the name of a major street in Sao Paulo known for its intense nightlife.

The adaptation will air in late 2015, with production set to begin early next year.

Allenby, which previously aired on Israel’s Channel 10 and was produced by Inosan Productions, was created by Gadi Taub and is based on his best-selling novel. The drama was set on Allenby Street in the heart of Tel Aviv’s nightlife.

The plot revolves around a beautiful stripper who falls victim to an aggressive assault and provides an insight into the gritty, secret underworld of a city’s seedier side.

“The similarities between Allenby Street in Israel and Rua Augusta are magnificent; both are a part of each city’s history and the centre of a sizzling nightlife, while also carrying the downsides of the nightlife, like sex, drugs and heavy rock ‘n’ roll,” said Rogério Gallo, VP of movies and series of Turner International in Brazil.
