TLC, Velocity stock up

Discovery Communications has unveiled new series for its cablenets Velocity and TLC, including one looking into the Amish community in the US.

Breaking Amish will premiere on Sunday September 9 at 22.00 on female-skewing TLC, revealing the strict traditions of the Amish religion and lifestyle by following five people who have chosen to leave it behind and explore the outside world.

Breaking Amish, produced by Hot Snakes Media, will follow its subjects as they experience firsts such as flying in a plane, wearing jeans and using a mobile phone and electricity.

Meanwhile, male-skewing Velocity is returning car restoration series Overhaulin’ to its schedule on October 2 at 21.00 (ET/PT).

The series previously aired for five seasons on TLC between 2004 and 2009 and the new season promises to go “beyond the garage” and explore the human stories and emotional connections between the cars and their owners.

WATV Productions is working on the new season, with Lenny Shabes, Chip Foose and David Lee executive producing.
