The female-skewing net has its official launch party in London tonight and the channel will debut in the UK on Tuesday April 30.

The channel has picked up Mistresses and Devious Maids, both produced by ABC Studios, from Disney UK and Ireland. The deal also includes the first season of comedy series Golden Girls.

Mistresses (13×60’) will arrive on TLC shortly after its launch on ABC in June. The series is based on a UK programme about four female friends and their illicit relationships.

Devious Maids (13×60’), from the makers of Desperate Housewives, is a comedy drama about four Latina maids working for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. It will premiere on Lifetime in the US in the autumn and then air on TLC in the UK next year.

Emmy-winning comedy Golden Girls (7×30’), about four older women living in Miami, will air as part of TLC’s daytime comedy block.

Discovery had previously confirmed that OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network will be getting its own branded programming block on the fledgling UK TLC.
