TLC puts weight loss to the test

TLC in the UK has commissioned a two-part documentary that tests a former The Apprentice contestant’s controversial views on weight loss.

Katie Hopkins has made a name for herself in the UK as an outspoken guest on talkshows and a newspaper columnist since appearing in the third season of BBC1’s The Apprentice.

Now Discovery’s female-skewing lifestyle net TLC is to put one of her more divisive theories to the test in a 2×60’ documentary from London-based indie Crackit Productions.

Hopkins has previously said she would not employ overweight people as she believes it affects their ability to work. The as-yet untitled show will see Hopkins attempt to gain four stone, and to be on the receiving end of her own prejudices, before trying to lose it again.

The programme was commissioned by Sarah Thornton, VP of production and development for factual entertainment at Discovery Networks International. Hannah Springham will executive produce for Crackit and the programme will air in early 2015.
