Discovery Networks has sealed carriage deals putting its female-skewing channel TLC on cable platforms in Ukraine and Belarus.
Ukrainian cable operator Volia and Cosmo TV in Belarus have both added the channel to their pay-TV platforms. On the latter, TLC replaces Travel & Living channel.
Volia already carries Discovery Channel and Animal Planet while Cosmos carries all six of Discovery’s nets: Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery Science, ID: Investigation Discovery, Discovery World and now TLC.
The deals continue TLC’s Eastern European roll-out, with the channel having already arrived in Poland and Russia. Discovery claims TLC became Poland’s top factual lifestyle channels within three months of its debut in 2011.
“We remain committed to investing in new content and services for North East Europe that serve the needs of platform providers and that enhance the experience for TV viewers,” said Caleb Weinstein, senior VP and general manager of distribution at Discovery Networks Europe, Middle East and Africa.
