Tinder inspires format revival

Comedy Central UK has commissioned FremantleMedia UK-owned Talkback to produce two new seasons of noughties gameshow Your Face or Mine.

The couples-based comedy format will be presented by comedian Jimmy Carr, who fronted the original version of Your Face or Mine on E4 and Channel 4 from 2002.

The new run, inspired by dating app Tinder, will force couples to compare their looks with other people’s, and ultimately with each other’s, in a relationship-testing game.

The 22×30’ series has been commissioned by Louise Holmes, VP of programming at Viacom-owned Comedy Central UK.

Executive producers are Leon Wilson and Ed Sleeman for Talkback. The series will be shot in front of an audience in early 2017 and is slated to air in the spring.

The commission is part of a broader push by Comedy Central to diversify its UK comedy offering and increase the volume of the non-scripted comedy it broadcasts.

Original commissions that have aired on Comedy Central UK in 2016 include a second season of Drunk History (Tiger Aspect), Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central and Russell Howard & Mum: USA Road Trip (both Avalon Television).

Most recently, Comedy Central announced that it had commissioned Avalon Television to produce The Chris Ramsey Show, which is set to air in early 2017.
