Thunderbird to adapt Israeli cop show

Vancouver- and LA-based prodco Thunderbird has acquired the rights to develop and adapt an Israeli police drama in the US and Canada.

The firm has taken the rights to
Street Justice from Israel-based Armoza Formatsin a deal that marks the first collaboration between the two companies.

Street Justice, originally produced by Artza Productions, has aired for three seasons on Israel’s Channel 10 and follows a hot-headed police detective who detests criminals and often takes the law into his own hands.

“Street Justice has a strong universal appeal, and with its character-based premise of the rule-breaking hero is the perfect crime drama for adaptation in the US and around the world,” said Avi Armoza, CEO of Armoza Formats.

Thunderbird is a production group that comprises Vancouver-based Reunion Pictures, Great Pacific Media and Atomic Cartoons; UK-based theatrical distributor Soda Pictures; and a joint venture with Lionsgate called Sea to Sky Entertainment.
