A broadcaster in French-speaking Canada has commissioned a local version of Endemol Shine gameshow format The Wall.

TVA in French Canada will air the show following a deal between its parent company Quebecor Content and distributor Endemol Shine Group.

The format, which originally aired on NBC in the US, was created by Glassman Media and SpringHill Entertainment in association with Universal Television Alternative Studios.

The show sees pairs of teammates working together to answer quiz questions to conquer a giant wall in the studio, with both knowledge and luck required to win.

“It gets monster ratings wherever it’s aired and we have absolute confidence it will thrill our viewers and touch their hearts,” said Yann Paquet, VP of acquisitions and international development at Quebecor Content.

Broadcast details on TVA will be announced at a later date, Quebecor Content said. The format also airs on TF1 in France and has been sold to Telecinco in Spain and RTL in Germany.
