The Hour comes for Shine Int’l

Shine International has made 15 pre-MipTV sales including sending BBC period drama The Hour into the Middle East and Africa.

MBC in the Middle East and MNet in Africa have secured rights to the drama, produced by Shine-owned Kudos Film and Television, while season one has also been picked up by Orange Cinema Series in France and TV Norge in Norway.

The series has already been acquired by networks in more than 100 territories, including ABC in Australia, Fox International Channels, SVT in Sweden, and Netflix in Canada and Latin America.

Shine has also licensed the third season of Canadian broadcaster CTV’s The Listener, produced by Shaftesbury Film and TV, in 10 new countries, including Norway (TV Norge), Finland (MTV), the Netherlands, Denmark and Belgium, the latter three through separate deals with SBS.

Shine is heading to Cannes for the start of MipTV on Sunday with a slate of more than 50 hours of new and returning dramas, including Hunted (fka Nemesis), produced by Kudos for the BBC and Cinemax; Real Humans, which was created by Matador Films for SVT1; and the second season of The Hour.
