The Garden makes Wise move

London-based indie The Garden, the prodco behind 24 Hours in A&E and The Audience, has hired a new head of programmes from Jamie Oliver’s Fresh One.

David Wise, currently creative director at Fresh One, will take up the new position in March, working with The Garden’s creative director Jonathan Smith to manage the company’s production slate.

The Garden’s executive producers and production teams will report into Wise who will also be involved in development and business-winning.

Wise has been with Fresh One since April 2010, leading the company’s development team and executive producing shows including Jimmy and The Giant Supermarket for Channel 4 (C4) and The Men Who Made us Thin for the BBC.

Prior to that he was with Betty for four years working on Confessions of a Traffic Warden and Freaky Eaters for C4 and the BBC respectively among others.

He started his career at October Films and spent six years as a producer and director at RDF before becoming head of factual at Blast! Films in 2004.

The Garden, launched by former Dragonfly execs Nick Curwin and Magnus Temple in June 2010, has also appointed former BBC producer and North One exec Hamo Forsyth as a staff executive producer.
