Charmed could become the latest TV series to be rebooted after it emerged that The CW in the US is developing a revival of the show.

The show, created by Constance Burge and produced by Spelling Television and Paramount Television, follows three sisters who practice witchcraft. It ran on the WB, since rebranded as The CW, for eight seasons until 2006.

The show is being developed by Jennie Urman (Jane the Virgin), who writes alongside Jessica O’Toole and Amy Radin, with CBS Television Studios producing.

Urman, O’Toole and Radin will exec produce with Propagate Content chief Ben Silverman and Brad Silberling, who is attached as director.

It’s the latest reboot for The CW, which has previously developed versions of movie duo The Lost Boys and The Notebook. Other networks such as CBS have also turned to remaking classic programmes, with its remake of 1980s action series MacGyver debuting last year.
