The agreement marks the first time a major terrestrial Korean broadcaster has agreed a production partnership with a production in development.

The first programme from the deal is Blink Films’ Lost Humans, a 120-minute documentary that looks into the lost world of humankind.

The Bridge was formed in early 2014, with the backing of London-based indie group Argonon. The venture, led by MD Amanda Groom, aims to deliver programming opportunities for the English-speaking producers of the UK, Canada, US and Australia across Asian territories.

Groom signed the deal at EBS headquarters in Seoul with ChoiKi Young (BGMC) and Kim Byung-soo (EBS).

“This deal marks a major leap forward in global TV coproduction for South Korea, and one that will open many doors to all English-speaking producers,” said Groom.

“East-West TV coproduction is at an early stage and The Bridge will continue to help UK producers to bridge differences in cultures with the ambition of delivering great TV for worldwide audiences.”
