Tencent orders Kid’s Got Talent

Chinese tech giant Tencent has partnered with FremantleMedia China and Syco Entertainment to launch a junior version of the Got Talent format.

Kid’s Got Talent will debut on VoD platform Tencent Video in China today, where it will be known locally as Extraordinary Kid’s Got Talent.

The show puts the spotlight on talented individuals under the age of 11, providing them with a platform to demonstrate their act without any form of competition or judging panel.

Zheng XiangLin, VP of Tencent, said: “As a family-friendly variety show hand-picked for our platform, this programme is bound to be filled with outstanding performances from the kids. I believe this collaboration is just the beginning.”

Vivian Yin, CEO of FremantleMedia China, added: “There are some incredibly talented children all over China and we are thrilled that Tencent Video will be showcasing all of this star quality with Kid’s Got Talent.”

The Got Talent format was created by Simon Cowell and is co-owned by Syco Entertainment and FremantleMedia. There are 70 local versions across Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas. Kid’s Got Talent was first produced in Italy in 2016 for TV8.
