Under the deal – financial terms of which have not been disclosed – Toronto- and LA-based Temple Street will take a “significant minority interest” in Industrial Brothers to grow its content-creation operations.

It comes after Temple Street received a cash boost from Canadian insurance and investment firm Fairfax Financial Holdings earlier this year and targeted an expansion of its activity in youth-skewing entertainment.

Temple Street is best known as the prodco behind sci-fi drama series Orphan Black and children’s live-action show The Next Step, while Toronto-based Industrial Brothers is the creative studio behind preschool series Yup Yups.

The distribution arm of Temple Street recently picked up third-party IP for global sales for the first time and it will now support Industrial Brothers’ sales of content, merchandising and licensing.

Temple Street’s in-house digital team will also partner with Industrial Brothers on interactive, gaming and app projects.
