Telemundo, Chilevision sign content pact

NBCUniversal-owned distributor Telemundo Internacional has agreed a partnership that will see Chilean network Chilevision acquire its formats and finished programming.

Under the deal, effective from January 1 next year, Chilevision will acquire TV formats and air the US Hispanic broadcaster’s telenovelas, as well as its unscripted show Caso Cerrado.

Chilevision, part of the Turner Group, is one of the most prominent broadcast networks in its local market.

“This agreement is significant for Telemundo Internacional and ensures the continued presence of our content in Chile through one of the channels with the highest penetration in the country,” said Esperanza Garay, senior VP of sales and acquisitions for Latin America at Telemundo Internacional.

Last month, three broadcasters in the Middle East came onboard an Arabic version of Chilean telenovela Hijos del Monte, which is distributed by Telemundo. In May, the firm agreed a deal with Chilean network TVN for a coproduction of scripted drama Dueños del Paraíso (aka Owners of Paradise).
