Tata Sky captures KI’s Prisoners of War

Keshet Broadcasting’s Prisoners of War (Hatufim) first aired on Keshet 2

Indian pay TV service Tata Sky has picked up an Israeli series that inspired Emmy-winning US drama Homeland, marking the country’s first Hebrew-language acquisition.

Prisoners of War (Hatufim) was originally commissioned by Keshet Broadcasting and is created, written and directed by Gideon Raff.

Tata has acquired seasons one (1×60’/9×45’) and two (14×45’) of the series, which is distributed by Keshet International (KI).

The drama originally aired on Keshet 2 and won 40% market share before going on to become Israel’s highest-rated drama in both 2010 and 2012.

It tells the story of three Israeli soldiers who were captured 17 years ago while on a secret mission as they struggle to adapt to everyday life after being released.

KI has sold the series into more than 65 territories, including streamer Hulu in the US and Sky Arts in the UK.

US premium cablenet Showtime recently announced that the forthcoming eighth season of Homeland will be its last.
