Talpa’s Voice scores double in Asia

The Voice China

The Voice will be adapted for Singapore and Malaysia and air next year

MIPCOM: ITV-owned Talpa has sold its flagship reality format The Voice to Asian producer MM2 Entertainment.

MM2 will air its version in Singapore and Malaysia in 2017, with the deal the first to encompass two territories.

Maarten Meijs, MD of Talpa Global, said: “The Voice continues to prove its universal appeal, with the focus on positivity being the differentiating factor that speaks to audiences around the globe.”

MM2 Entertainment is behind movies such as the Ah Boys To Men franchise and online singing competition Hear Me Sing. A broadcaster is yet to be named.

Melvin Ang, CEO of MM2 Asia, added: “Given the strong historical and cultural bond between the two countries, the Singapore/Malaysia version is a great way to extend this iconic format to this part of the world.

“Through the show, we’re also looking to unearth fresh acting and singing talents for our diverse range of movies and entertainment platforms.”
