TalkTalk expands Viceland’s UK distribution

UK telecoms outfit TalkTalk will add Vice Media’s lifestyle and entertainment network Viceland to its platform on March 27.

The new carriage deal builds on the channel’s existing UK distribution with pay TV platform Sky and OTT services NowTV and TVPlayer.

TalkTalk TV customers will have access to Viceland’s original programming, including hip-hop artist 2 Chainz’s exploration of excessive spending in Most Expensivest and drag comedy series The Trixie & Katya Show, starring RuPaul’s Drag Race’s Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova.

The channel also features UK productions, including comedian Jamali Maddix’s exploration of extremist groups and controversial figures in Hate Thy Neighbour, Grace Neutral’s tattoo travelogue Needles & Pins and Clive Martin’s insight into global party cultures in Big Night Out.

“Viceland is leading the way with its original and exciting factual programming and adding it to our growing roster of content partners means we’re delivering more of what really matters to our customers – the very best TV on their terms,” said Aleks Habdank, MD at TalkTalk TV.

In related news, Vice is reportedly set to name Vivendi content boss Dominique Delport as its international chief to lead the youth-skewing media group’s expansion around the world. According to Variety in the US, Delport will be based in Vice’s London office.

This follows Vice last week confirming that A+E Networks CEO and president Nancy Dubuc will replace Shane Smith as CEO, with the latter becoming executive chairman.
