Syfy orders Moore’s latest thriller

US cablenet Syfy has ordered a new 13-part drama series from Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and Battlestar Galactica producer Ronald Moore.

Helix (working title) will premiere later this year, Mark Stern, president of original content at Syfy and co-head of original content at Universal Cable Productions, has confirmed.

The series is a thriller about a team of scientists who travel to the Arctic to investigate a disease outbreak only to find themselves locked in a struggle that threatens mankind’s existence.

SPT will start production shortly with Moore, Lynda Obst, Steven Maeda and Cameron Porsandeh executive producing.
