Syfy carries on Continuum

US cablenet Syfy has renewed time-travelling police drama Continuum for a second season.

The 13 new episodes of the Showcase original series, produced by Reunion Pictures with Shaw Media, will air from Friday June 7 at 22.00.

The pick-up comes after production of a second batch of episodes was confirmed last month, as Endemol acquired worldwide distribution rights.

Continuum is about a cop from the future who finds herself trapped in the present day, swept along when a group of fanatical terrorists escaped their planned execution in 2077 by vaulting back in time.

Executive producers of Continuum are series creator Simon Barry (The Art of War), Pat Williams (Smallville) and Tom Rowe (Tin Man).
