Gesetzlos is part of SWR and ARD’s Über die Grenze series

German public broadcasters SWR and ARD Degeto have begun production on the second episode of their new cross-border crime movie series Über die Grenze.

In the latest instalment, a Franco-German police unit in the border region of Baden and Alsace investigates the execution-style murder of a drug dealer that threatens to spark an all-out gang war after the victim is revealed to be the son of a powerful Russian crime boss.

Polyphon Pictures is producing Über die Grenze for SWR and ARD Degeto. Michael Rowitz is directing the second movie in the series, tentatively titled Gesetzlos, from a screenplay by Felice Götze, Sabine Radebold and Paul J Milbers.

Polyphon MD Sabine Tettenborn is a producer on the show, which is currently shooting in the German and French cities of Kehl and Strassbourg. The movies will air in Das Erste’s Thursday night crime drama slot, although the broadcaster has yet to announce an airdate.

Thomas Sarbacher, Anke Retzlaff, Philippe Caroit and Noémie Kocher star as the international police team, known as the Gemeinsames Zentrum für Polizei- und Zollzusammenarbeit, or GZ.
