SVT, Eyeworks start forbidden drama

Swedish pubcaster SVT has commissioned Eyeworks and a local prodco to make a drama based on a bestselling novel by the author Kerstin Thorvall, first published in 1976.

Det mest förbjudna (The Most Forbidden) is written by Åsa Blanck and will be directed by actress/director Tova Magnusson, with filming due to begin next year, according to the Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

The three-part drama is based on the eponymous autobiographical novel by Thorvall, a well-known and controversial figure in Sweden who died in 2010.

Warner Bros-owned Eyeworks will coproduce alongside Swedish production firm GötaFilm, which also made the miniseries Ettor & Nollor – winner of the Best Non-English Language Drama Series prize at this year’s C21 International Drama Awards.

The latest project has received support from the Swedish Film Institute, with co-financing from Film i Väst and SVT.
