Superights sails with Story Time! special

The Genie of the Seas was commissioned by Canal+

French distributor Superights has picked up the rights to a TV special based on an animated original commissioned by kids’ channel Piwi+.

The Genie of the Seas (1×26’) is a spin-off from the Story Time! (26×13’) collection produced by French indie Le Regard Sonore.

Commissioned by French pay TV operator Canal+, it will be delivered in November and tells the story of two siblings on a magical boat on the Burmese coast led by a genie.

Superights has also picked up Le Regard Sonore’s Moko the Young Explorer (52×5’) and its TV special sequel Moko & the Worlds of Colour (1×52’).

The educational Moko series and its special, currently in development, aim for an upper-preschool audience. The shows take viewers through fantasy worlds.

The Story Time! collection has so far been acquired by VRT (Belgium), YLE (Finland), HRT (Croatia), TV5Monde (global French-speaking territories), Mindset (Central and South Africa), 2M (Morocco), TVB (Hong Kong), Horng En Culture (Taiwan), Canal Once (Mexico) and Paka Paka (Argentina). Broadcasters in Asia and Canada are also in discussions to acquire the collection.
