The comedy thriller was greenlit by US pay TV network Epix as its third original drama series back in May.

Super Channel has acquired the series from its producer and distributor MGM Television, the TV arm of Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM), which industry veteran Mark Burnett was hired to launch and run in 2015. MGM is the parent company of Epix.

Super Channel will debut the 10×60’ series, which stars Chris O’Dowd and Ray Romano, in Canada on Wednesday September 20 at 21.00.

The series and film are both based on Elmore Leonard’s 1990 novel of the same name and focus on a Nevada hitman who tries to become a Hollywood movie producer as a means to leave his criminal past behind and win back his recently estranged family.

Created for television by Davey Holmes (Shameless, In Treatment, Damages), Get Shorty is executive produced by Holmes and Emmy nominee Allen Coulter (The Sopranos, Damages), who also directs the first episode
