Canadian pay net Super Channel has acquired two UK dramas, including Stephen Poliakoff’s Close to the Enemy.

The seven-part series is set in a bomb-damaged London hotel in the aftermath of World War Two and follows an intelligence officer whose last task for the army is to ensure that a captured German scientist starts working for the British RAF on developing the jet engine.

The show is from Little Island Productions in association with Endor Productions for BBC2 in the UK and Acorn Media Enterprises, in partnership with All3Media International, which distributes globally. Its executive producers are Helen Flint and Hilary Bevan Jones, with Poliakoff writing and directing.

The show will make its US debut on RLJ Entertainment’s streaming service Acorn TV in November or December, coinciding with the BBC broadcast in the UK. US cablenet Starz had originally acquired the project last year but is no longer involved.

It will premiere on Super November 10 at 22.00 and also be available to subscribers on Super Channel On Demand the following day.

Super has also added the second season of All3’s The Missing, which will air in March. The eight-episode second run follows the return of a woman who has been missing for more than a decade.
