The screenplay was written by Andrea Porporati and Nigel Williams, with Italian filmmaker Giacomo Battiato also on board.

The Name of the Rose is based on the eponymous novel by Eco and will star John Turturro and Michael Emerson alongside Everett.

Set in Italy in 1327, it follows a Franciscan monk and his novice as they arrive at a secluded monastery in the Alps, where they witness a series of mysterious murders.
