Sundance gets This Close again

This Close was Sundance Now’s first straight-to-series order

Sundance Now, the streaming service owned by US commercial broadcast company AMC Networks, has greenlit a second season of its relationship dramedy This Close.

The series is created, written by and stars Shoshannah Stern and Josh Feldman. Production of the 8×22’ second run will begin this summer in Los Angeles.

The show was Sundance Now’s first straight-to-series order and is produced by Super Deluxe.

It follows the relationship between deaf best friends Kate (Stern) and Michael (Feldman) as they navigate life, love and their careers in LA. Stern and Feldman are both deaf and best friends in real life.

“We are immensely proud of This Close and could not have asked for a better reception to the series’ first season from both the press and our Sundance Now members,” said Jan Diedrichsen, general manager of SundanceTV and Sundance Now.

“Greenlighting the show’s second season was the easiest decision we’ve ever made, and we cannot wait to see where Josh and Shoshannah take Michael and Kate’s stories.”
