STV harvests Discovery’s Korn

UK production company STV Productions has hired Discovery exec Dan Korn as its new creative director.

Korn, who leaves Discovery after more than a decade, will focus on specialist factual and returnable programming in his new role, reporting to director of content Alan Clements.

Korn was most recently head of special projects at Discovery Networks International, and was previously the network’s head of programming for the UK and Western Europe.

During his tenure at Discovery, Korn was behind the launch of the Quest and Investigation Discovery channels and oversaw programmes including Bear Grylls: Born Survivor.

Last year, he also commissioned a quick-turnaround documentary offering a scientific insight into the Ebola crisis in West Africa.

Korn will be based at STV Productions’ London office and begins his new role in August.
