Strix finds German home for The Farm

MIP NEWS – The Farm, Strix Television’s back-to-nature reality format, is adding to previous sales into Scandinavia, Holland, France and Italy with a new deal in Europe’s biggest TV market.

Under the German deal unveiled this week in Cannes, Strix and Dutch-based Eyeworks will coproduce the local version of the show for RTL Germany. The Dutch outfit recently rebranded its German production sister under the Eyeworks banner.

No further details of the show were revealed, but Strix has spent the past six months setting up a ‘Farm factory’ down in South Africa to produced back-to-back versions of the format more economically.

Following its debut on TV3 Denmark last month, The Farm was picked up by Holland Media House for transmission throughout Belgium and Holland. The Farm has so far been produced in eight territories: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Greece, Hungary, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

A French version of the format will air on TF1 next month, while an Italian take of the show will air on Italia Uno for April 6. Endemol affiliates are producing both the shows.

The elimination reality format takes contestants back 100 years to see how well they cope with living on a remote C19th farm, where they have to grow their own food, feed and clothe themselves and look after various farmyard animals.
