StarzPlay arrives in Europe

Vida focuses on two Mexican-American sisters

Amazon has added a new channel from Lionsgate-owned US cablenet Starz to its Prime Video Channels line-up in the UK and Germany.

StarzPlay will allow European viewers to watch Starz series for the first time, with future originals launching in the territory on the same day as their US premiere.

Two new originals that will now be available in the UK and Germany are Vida and Sweetbitter. Vida is executive produced by Tanya Saracho and focuses on two Mexican-American sisters who discover a surprising truth about their mother’s identity.

Sweetbitter is adapted from the bestselling novel of the same name by Stephanie Danler, who serves as series creator and executive producer. It tells the story of a 22-year-old woman who moves to New York City to pursue a new life.

The two Starz originals will launch exclusively on Prime Video Channels in the UK and Germany on May 24, with the first four episodes available immediately and subsequent episodes launching on the same day as the US.
